Local Lodge History
Local Lodge 834 was granted a charter on March 31, 1942, under the name of Boeing Aeronautical Lodge No. 834.
The petition was signed on May 15, 1942, by then International President H.W. Brown and Secretary Treasurer E. C. Davidson.
The Local Lodge was built in late 1956.
Some of the finest machinists in the world worked for the Wichita Division of the Boeing Company.
Local Lodge 834 had approximately 600 members.
On June 17, 2005, the Wichita Division of Boeing Commercial Aircraft was sold to ONEX, a private equity firm.
On June 25, 2005, a Collective Bargaining Agreement was made and entered between the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, AFL-CIO, District 70, Local Lodge 839, and Mid-Western Aircraft Systems, Inc. (which later adopted a new corporate name).
On August 1, 2005, Local Lodge 839 was officially charted.
Local Lodge 839 now owns the Local Lodge building located at 3917 S. MacArthur.
Local Lodge 839 represents approximately 7000 hourly employees at the new company, now known as Spirit Aerosystems, Inc.

The Machinists Union
